Lord of the rings online tips and strategy in lotro

One of the biggest costs associated with adventuring in the most dangerous areas is the overhead cost of repairs if you happen to die. Turbine accidentally gave people a way around this issue with their most recent patch, which allows characters under 10th level to die without damaging their objects in inventory. For this reason, it’s a particularly good strategy to use such chracters as mules, picking up treasure as it drops, but protected by the rest of a higher level group. Lower level mules can also be used to trigger traps,activating monsters, or drawing them towards traps or luring them out without risk, allowing the higher level characters to focus on damage. One technique this can also be used in would be to lure a mob of creatures towards the rest of a party, and have that party pick off one of the monsters, drawing its aggro while the lower level mule character draws the rest of the mob away from the battle for the moment. This gives parties a low-risk way to break up even the largest, toughest mobs. It also guarantees that they will respawn individually, rather than all at once, allowing parties to safely camp out near particularly lucrative treasure chests, etc.

Mining ore is progressively riskier in LOTRO, but it’s not necessarily a good idea to mine the most advanced ores to make a good profit. The way that LOTRO levels up prospecting skills requires even high-level prospectors to have copper ore, which is surprisingly the most in demand in the game, fetching prices up to 2 silver each in the auction house. The best place to mine silver is on near the road from the Brandywine Bridge to the construction camp along the road southwest of Bree, as it respawns most rapidly there. It is quite possible to harvest 80 copper there in one hour, which could be sold for up to 160 silver in the auction house… perhaps more as the economy starts to develop and inflation kicks in. As the game evolves, it may be a far better idea for leveling prospectors to harvest and auction copper in order to buy other ores which are, by definition, less in demand for experience leveling purposes.

 One of the best areas of the game to farm for quality drops is in the Emyn Hoedh region of northeastern Erid Luin. The wights in that region drop consistantly good treasure, but are easier to kill and in less dangerous groupings than the wights of the Barrow Downs to the west of Bree. From my experience, this is an even better location than the city to the east in the same area of Erid Luin, as the resale value of the items dropped is better and the drops are more consistantly good. This area will get even better as the game progresses, as demands for wights body parts increases… many are used for potions and the like.

Lord of the Rings Online Champions - The Ins And Outs(Part One)

Champions are perhaps the best soloing class in Middle-Earth. The fact that they can wear heavy armor, as well as dishing heavy damage often causes those who have not played the class to have a bit of class envy towards them. Champions can fill in as a tank if no guardian is available, though doing so will make them forfeit most of their damage dealing capabilities. It is always preferable to have a guardian as a main tank because they have more hit points, better taunting ability and can dish more damage than a champion who is in tanking mode. However, it is the ability to serve in multiple roles if need be that make a champion desirable in group play. If your main tank should go down, the champion can switch to a shield and one handed configuration, turn off their fervour generation and fill in for them. They are best suited for their role as a DPS (Damage Per Second) class, however.

Fervour

Fervour is unique to champions. It is a reflecting of how much rage you have accumulated in any given fight. It is gained in two ways, the first is by using certain abilities such as Wild Attack and Swift Strike. These abilities will generate Fervour when used. The other way is via your offensive stance, which should be toggled on for most of your Champions career. Any time that you are not tanking this should be on. It will cause you to automatically accumulate fervour and to regenerate power more quickly, but causes you to forfeit your ability to Evade, Block or Parry. Most of your other special attacks or abilities have a fervour cost associated with them. This causes the champion to make some choices in combat, should they choose to use a triple attack at the cost of three fervour, or build their fervour to a full five points in case they need to use an area effect stun? These sort of decisions are what makes playing a champion an enjoyable experience.

The Area Effect

Champions are arguably the best class in the game when it comes to dealing Area of Effect (AOE) damage. They have a variety of differnet attacks from the level 1 Blade-Wall to damage dealing attacks such as Blade-Storm or stunning attacks such as Sound the Attack. Champions also obtain horns at level 20, which will do an area of effect stun, but have a 15 minute reuse delay. The number of monsters which can be stunned varies by the quality of the horn used.

Dual Wielding or the Big Bang?

Champions can dual wield from level one onward, but can also train themselves in the use of two handed weapons. There are pros and cons to each. The main advantage of a two hander is that your special attacks will do much greater damage. As a champion myself, I let the gear dictate which of the two I will use at any given time. A good two hander will outdamage two pretty good one handers. But generally I prefer to dual wield because you attack faster and in general it seems that you deal more damage. When tanking a spear makes a reliable weapon because they have a higher damage than most other one handers, as they cannot be dual wielded. This makes them ideal if you need to go into a shield + one handed tank role.lotro.

Another thing that deserves mention here is the use of daggers. There are many daggers that have a high DPS available in the game, but their use as a primary hand weapon has a trade off. They are very fast, but their damage is low. This means that your special attacks will do less damage, but you will attack quicker. When dual wielding daggers I have found power to be an issue. You will often run out of power before the end of a fight.

Guide to Playing Music

So, maybe you’ve heard about this wacky music system that lets you play real music in-game. You’ve probably seen the people standing around in Bree banging out swingin’ tunes. Maybe you’ve even dabbled with the /music command a bit. If so, you probably quickly discovered that it’s a pretty robust and powerful system– musical newbies need not apply. If you don’t know much about music in real life, it can be a little daunting. Worry not! I was once in the same boat as you, friend, and now I can pluck out songs with the best of them. With a little help from this guide, we’ll have you playing like a pro in no time. Read on to begin your musical journey in the land of Middle Earth!lotro.

Getting Started

The first thing you’ll need to do is make sure that your character has their instrument skills trained. No skills, no songs. You get these from your class trainer at level 5 as a passive skill. Every class gets the lute proficiency and one other instrument with the exception of the Minstrel, who can play all of them. Here’s a quick list of who gets what for reference:

Burglars, Hunters, and Lore-Masters play the clarinet.

Captains, Champions, and Guardians play the horn.

The harp and flute are Minstrel-only. Sorry for all you non-Minstrel harp enthusiasts!

Once you’ve gotten the necessary skills from your trainer (which you can verify by looking at your passive skills tab), you’ll need to buy the correct instrument. Any will do for making music, but obviously you need the ones that correspond to your skills. You’ll find all of the basic instruments at your friendly neighborhood bard for a few silver (it’s the same place where you equip traits).

Equip your instrument by right-clicking it or dropping it into your instrument slot, and you’re ready to rock– literally! You can now press enter and type “/music” to enter music mode, at which point you can begin using the keyboard to play notes.lotro guide.

Feel the rhythm in your soul! Make some music, mon!

Some of you are probably gurgling and clawing at your eyes right about now. But hey, remember what the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy tells us: Don’t Panic! That previous section is really only necessary if you want to convert sheet music to LOTRO or compose your own songs. For the rest (most) of us, someone else was nice enough to do the heavy lifting. It’s pretty easy from there to learn to play; it just takes a little practice. Lets start with something simple: Camptown Races!

Get your character set up using the instructions in the “Getting Started” section. Once you’re ready to begin playing, tap these numbers:

You’ll get a feel for the timing pretty quickly. This one is very simple, but it’s just to get you used to playing with the number keys. After you’re comfortable with Camptown Races, move on to something a little harder. Chopsticks requires you to play two lines at once, creating chords.

So, you’ll be using two fingers on each beat: 4&5, 3&5, 2&7 (watch out for that 3&6 towards the end), and 1&8. After a few minutes getting a feel for chords, you’ll be ready to try your hand at using shift(numbers designated in italics)and control (numbers designated in bold). Try a little Frere Jacques to get the hang of using the shift key (note the last two 5’s are not italicized).

  1 5 1  1 5 1There aren’t many songs where you’ll have to mix CTRL notes and SHIFT notes, so don’t worry about that too much. By now, you’re probably feeling pretty confident in your musical abilities, and you should be. You have three songs in your repertoire that almost everyone can recognize! Practice those for a while until you’ve really got them down, and then you can use your newfound musical skills to tackle much harder fare like the Star Wars theme, the Mario Bros. theme, and actual rock songs.

Glenn maintains a regularly updated song list, so I suggest you head there to start looking for new music to impress your friends with. Congratulations! You’ve gone from a talentless nobody to a musical genius in just under 20 minutes! You must be some kind of prodigy.

Now go out into Middle Earth and show everyone your newfound mad musical skillz.

Lord of the rings online gold system

The economical and gold system within any game like LOTRO is always a crucial and game driving aspect.   The gold system within Lord of the Rings Online allows you do purchase gear, abilities, services, repairs, etc. 

Welcome to our money (currency) overview for Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. The currency system within LOTRO is similiar to many other MMORPG games but has some differences. The currency is broken up into three seperate types, Gold, Silver, and Copper.

For example, the character above has zero gold, 40 silver, and 49 copper. There is also a currency called “destiny points” that we’ll discuss later and deals with monster play. As far as the denominations go, 100 copper is equal to 1 silver, but 1000 silver is required for 1 gold. Kind of odd we think, but that’s the way it is none the less.

Getting lotro gold 

There are a wide variety of ways to aquire lotro gold in the game, the most obvious is to complete quests and sell off what you have looted from various creatures. To sell your items to a vendor (npc - non playing character) you simply talk to them and go to “sell” as seen below.

Various vendors have items for sale but will also buy yours from you. As you can see in the diagram above, the character can sell a wide variety of items and get more gold from them. They can in turn spend that money on items from a vendor or auction house.

Other ways to build wealth include crafting various items and selling them to vendors or on the auction house to other players.
